MUSEUM RITTER - Die Sammlung Marli Hoppe-Ritter

The Museum Ritter is a private institution dedicated to the presentation, advancement and art education of predominantly geometrically-abstract art. Founded by Marli Hoppe-Ritter, the granddaughter of the Alfred Ritter chocolate factory founders, the Museum is supported by the Marli Hoppe-Ritter Foundation for the advancement of art. The museum is located next to the factory in the medieval town of Waldenbuch, Germany.

The core collection of the Museum Ritter consists of works from the private art collection of Marli Hoppe-Ritter and her husband Hilmar Hoppe. The majority of the works are European paintings and sculptures dealing with the square. The works are from the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries. From the strictly constructive form to the playful deconstruction of the square, the collection offers an exciting contrast with a sometimes pliant, sometimes oppositional form.

Rotating special exhibitions connect to the collection’s concept, in which the meaning of geometric approaches should be clarified for contemporary art as well.
